UPDATE
(rev 21 July 2008)

Due to some serious and ongoing family problems (not medical problems – thanks for asking), we’ve had to temporarily suspend magazine production while we reorganize and possibly relocate the Aerospace Modeler Magazine business office.

We’re doing everything we can as fast as we can to get things back on track.

  • AMM #9 has been fully laid out and is being proofread now. I’ll bring a color copy of the proof to the IPMS/USA National Convention for you to see.
  • Discussions are underway with the AMM investors now, and the decision is up to them regarding whether or not AMM #9 goes to press. I’m hoping to get a decision from them sometime in early September. If we’re able to go forward at that time, there’s a very good chance we’ll also get AMM #10 to the printer by the end of the year. AMM #10 already has 50 of its 80 pages laid out. AMM #10 will also contain Part 2 of the B-50 story, which features Dave Minton’s build of the 1/72 scale Academy kit. All that’s left are the new product reviews. That would actually get us back on our quarterly schedule.
  • The other big challenge we face is re-organizing the AMM back office. We’re looking at contracting some of that out, but the website has been working well, and that may allow us to minimize the impact of that change. We’re meeting with some prospective contractors on the way to Virginia Beach.
  • We also need to identify a new graphics and layout contractor for AMM #10, but that task is very well-defined and I don’t expect to have any trouble finding a suitable contractor.

The web store, FTP capability, user profile, and “contact us” functions on the website are also temporarily closed, but you should still be able to download the pamphlets and guides for Authors and Reviewers from the “Writing for AMM” page.

If we’re not able to go forward with AMM #9, we have sufficient cash reserves to fully refund any remaining subscriptions or obligations to distributors / retailers. We’re also developing some premiums to say “thank you” to those subscribers who remain with us while we get things back on track.

AMM back issues are still available from Squadron Mail Order.

Thank you for your patience as we resolve these issues. I look forward to seeing you in Virginia Beach.

Our commitment is simple:

  • AMM gives scale air and space model builders more value – more useful information per page and per issue for the same or less money -- than any other modeling magazine you can buy.
  • The best authors and builders in the world will give you extensive in-progress photo coverage to show you HOW it was done as well as WHAT was done.
  • You get the same high production values (large photos, heavy paper cover, glossy pages) seen in the best European model magazines.

We back that commitment up: If you’re not completely satisfied, we’ll refund the balance of your subscription, including the last issue mailed to you.
